Blas de Ghàidhlig: A Taste of Gaelic

Join us for a friendly introduction to Scottish Gaelic over three live 45-minute webinar sessions. Jane NicLeòid is a native speaker and teacher of Scottish Gaelic, teaching and tutoring online from the Scottish Gàidhealtachd. These webinars are for absolute beginners who would like to learn how to introduce and describe themselves in Gaelic. No previous learning is required. This is a chance to hear, learn and enjoy a little Scottish Gaelic, with a glimpse into the culture and heritage behind the language, without committing to a full course. You won't be on-screen or on-mic, so you can simply sit back, listen and take part at your own pace. You will learn: • Basic language steps and phrases • Listening and pronunciation practice • A taste of traditional Gaelic sayings There is a personal creative writing exercise to complete between sessions or in your own time. Before the first session, we will email your webinar link and a PDF booklet containing: • key language steps and language to be used • links to audio recordings of the phrases and vocabulary, for your own practice • a personal creative writing activity to develop throughout the week After the final session, links to video recordings of the three live sessions will be available online Simply join us with a willingness to have fun with Scottish Gaelic. No previous knowledge or experience of language learning is required. You’ll leave with: • The ability to introduce yourself to other beginners as well as sympathetic intermediate to fluent speakers. • Some great digital language resources that you can keep coming back to whenever you wish. • A sense of whether you'd like to experience and learn more Scottish Gaelic.
